Epizón
Epizón, from the Greek for “survivor”
Three performers inhabit a space where, using a shared physical code, they explore different types of interaction. Through the creative use of their own heartbeat, they are able to influence the performance on both sonic and visual levels.
The heart is the central element: a symbol of humanity and self-listening, but also a point of contact with HART, a prototype device capable of processing the sound of the heartbeat and, consequently, expanding the performer’s expressive range. Choreographic elements evolve through a dialogue with the space, with other individuals, and with technology.
Epizón investigates the concept of creative natural selection, where the performative elements that survive various attempts at interaction become the foundation for a new language.
